Where did the year go? I can not believe it is May, and we are winding down our school year. I have seen tremendous growth, but we still need to accomplish more skills in math, reading, and writing to move on to the 5th grade. In Math, please continue to practice basic math facts daily while we are learning about fractions, decimals, and probability. I can not express the importance of times tables and simple division right now. As we all know, the boys and girls are at the age where they are reading to learn knowledge and information. Continue to read with them and ask questions. Do not just listen to what they are reading. Ask for understanding. We are also at the point in which sentences should be into paragraphs. We have been writing in the classroom. Yes, I am correcting for spelling errors and punctuation. Presently the boys and girls are learning and writing poetry in the classroom. Look for a poetry booklet to come home in a couple of weeks. We have finished our spelling series, but I am using our previous spelling series for the remainder of the year. Please watch the shorthand through text messaging and computers. It does not help when written work gets handed in to me. Our field trip will be May 23 (rain date May 24). I can not wait for how much fun the boys and girls will have on that day. |
